Delivery

How far in advance can I book train tickets through Ctrip for delivery?

Tickets must be booked a minimum of 3 days in advance (60 days maximum) of your desired travel dates so that tickets can be delivered to your chosen address.

Can any nationality book train tickets with Ctrip?

Yes. If you book a ticket with a Mainland Chinese ID card you need to pick it up yourself. The ticket delivery service is only available for tickets that are booked with a non-Mainland Chinese ID card.

Can I book train tickets for delivery over the phone?

Currently train tickets for delivery can only be booked on our website.

Can I print my tickets myself or get an e-ticket?

No. Only the official paper tickets are available and can be delivered or picked up according to how they are booked.

Can I pick up my tickets at the train station after purchasing online with Ctrip?

Yes. Train tickets can be picked up or delivered to your chosen address.

Can I have the tickets delivered to a hotel and have them signed for there?

Yes. Please make sure there will be someone available to sign for your tickets on delivery.

Can I book train tickets without providing a delivery address?

Yes, you can. Simply select the "ticket pickup" option on the passenger information page. After you have successfully purchased tickets, go to any railway station or authorized ticket office within mainland China with a valid ID (this should be the same as the one used for your booking) and your ticket pickup number, which is the letter E followed by a series of numbers.
*If this is your first time purchasing train tickets in China, please visit your nearest railway station to make your reservation. Once your passport has been verified at the railway station, you will be able to book train tickets online in the future.

What documents do I need to make my booking? Do I need to provide a copy of my passport?

You only need to input your full name as it appears on your valid ID and your ID number.

How do I book train tickets?

Select "Trains" on the navigation bar or "Trains" tab in the homepage search box. Complete fields with required information and click "Find trains." Select your desired train ticket from the results list and follow the instructions provided to complete your reservation. After being issued, tickets will be delivered to your chosen address.

How do I book round-trip tickets or multi-leg tickets?

You can only book one-way or single-leg tickets in each order. Tickets are limited to a maximum of five per order (must be for the same date, same train number and same seat type). A separate order should be made for tickets for different dates, train numbers or seat types. Ctrip cannot guarantee ticket availability, nor cancel or modify tickets after issue. If change or cancellation is required, please go to the refund window at the boarding station with ticket and valid ID (this should be the same as that used for booking).

If I book several tickets at a time, can I get seats next to each other?

Seat or sleeper tickets bought at the same time are usually next to each other. Ctrip will try best to book adjacent seats on your behalf but cannot guarantee success due to random ticket distribution.

How can I pay for my ticket(s)?

We currently accept Chinese domestic debit and credit cards, Chinese UnionPay cards and international credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express).

How long after submitting my reservation will I know whether or not tickets are available?

Ticket availability for bookings made before 3:00 p.m. will be confirmed by email before 5:30 p.m. All bookings made after 3:00 p.m. will be confirmed before 5:30 p.m. the next day.

Note: This applies to tickets booked a maximum of 58 days in advance of your desired travel dates. For tickets booked 59–60 days ahead of your desired travel dates, bookings will be confirmed 58 days in advance of your desired dates. For example, if you want to travel on 28 April, you can reserve a ticket on 1 March, but ticket availability will be confirmed on 2 March.

If there are no tickets available, will I get my money back?

Yes. If the ordered tickets are no longer available, Ctrip will refund the full price paid (subject to confirmation). Refunds will be made using the same method as your initial payment. Refund payment date is subject to bank or credit card provider.

What happens if the actual ticket price is lower than I paid?

If the actual ticket purchase price is lower than the displayed price, Ctrip will refund the difference (subject to confirmation). Refunds will be made using the same method as your initial payment.

What is the delivery process?

Address details cannot be modified after tickets have been paid for and confirmed. Delivery fee = First ticket charged at CNY 40; additional tickets CNY 20 per ticket. (For example, the delivery fee for an order of 3 tickets will cost CNY 80). Tickets must be signed for on delivery. Tickets are dispatched daily and delivered within 24 hours. Tickets for orders made after 3:00 p.m. will be dispatched the next day.

Ticket delivery locations.

Ctrip currently offers train ticket delivery to the locations listed below. Ticket delivery is provided by SF Express. Some outlying suburban areas may not be served by SF Express. For more information, call the SF Express hotline 4008-111-111 (within Mainland China) or check the SF Express website using your postal code. How do I change or cancel my train ticket reservation?

Ctrip cannot cancel or modify tickets after issue. If change or cancellation is required, please go to the refund window at the boarding station with ticket and valid ID (this should be the same as that used for booking). Change or cancellation at the boarding station will be made according to local railway authority ticket refund regulations.

What happens if I provided a delivery address but didn't get my tickets?

After issue, tickets will be delivered to the address you provide and must be signed for on delivery. Customers shall be responsible for any losses incurred if no one is present at the designated location to sign for delivery, or if incorrect information is provided. Ctrip will provide a full refund on any tickets delivered after train departure time, but will not assume any other responsibilities. Refunds will be made using the same method as your initial payment.

How do I book train tickets for pickup?

Train tickets for pickup can be purchased as a package with hotel promotion codes on Ctrip’s website or app.

Book a train ticket with a prepaid hotel promotion code, you can take advantage of our special promotion package and save CNY 20 on hotel bookings. The promotion code cost you CNY 30 and it is valid for 90 days from the time it is earned.

After you have successfully purchased tickets, go to any railway station or authorized ticket office within mainland China with a valid ID (this should be the same as the one used for your booking) and your ticket pickup number, which is the letter E followed by a series of numbers.

*Due to railway authority ticket regulations, Ctrip cannot guarantee ticket availability.

How far in advance can I book tickets through Ctrip?

Train tickets can be booked a minimum of 35 minutes and a maximum of 60 days in advance of your desired travel time.

Can any nationality book train tickets with Ctrip?

Yes.

Can I book train tickets by calling Ctrip's customer service?

Currently train tickets can only be booked on our website or app.

How long after submitting my reservation will I know whether or not tickets are available?

About two hours after successful payment, we will inform you whether your ticket(s) have been purchased by sending an email to the address given during booking. If the email is not received at this time, please log into your Ctrip account and check the order status by selecting My bookings under My account and clicking Trains.

After purchasing tickets online, can I print them myself? Where can I collect my tickets?

You cannot print train tickets yourself. Please go to any railway station or authorized ticket office within mainland China with your ticket pickup number (which begins with the letter E followed by a series of numbers) along with your valid ID (this should be the same as the one used for your booking).
*If this is your first time purchasing train tickets in China, please visit your nearest railway station to make your reservation. Once your passport has been verified at the railway station, you will be able to book train tickets online in the future.

How do I book round-trip tickets or multi-leg tickets?

Does successful payment mean I will definitely get my tickets?

We cannot guarantee ticket availability, but will try our best to purchase tickets for you. If the tickets are not available, we will refund your payment in full.

Do I need to pay handling fees when picking up my ticket?

No handling fees will be charged except in the following two situations:

  1. A CNY 5 handling fee per ticket will be charged if you pick up tickets at an authorized ticket office not at a railway station.
  2. A CNY 5 handling fee per ticket will be charged if you pick up your ticket at a railway station in one city and use this ticket to get on a train in another city.

I made an order by mistake. How can I cancel it?

Log into your account and select My bookings under My account, then click Trains. Cancel the booking by clicking the Cancel booking button next to the booking you would like to cancel.

How do I cancel my train ticket?

  1. To cancel paid for, unissued tickets at least two hours before departure, please log in to your account and select My bookings under My account, then click Trains. Cancel the booking by clicking the Cancel booking button next to the booking you would like to cancel.
  2. Ctrip cannot cancel tickets after issue or within two hours of departure. If you need to cancel your ticket, please go to the refund window at a railway station with your ticket(s) (if issued) and valid ID (this should be the same as the one used for your booking).
  3. Please cancel tickets during Ctrip business hours (7 a.m.-10 p.m.).

Will I be charged a handling fee if I cancel my ticket?

In accordance with railway authority ticket cancelation regulations:

No handling fee is charged if a ticket is canceled at least 15 days in advance of the departure date. A 5% handling fee (minimum CNY 2) will be charged per ticket for any cancelation made more than 49 hours but less than 15 days before departure; a 10% handling fee will be charged per ticket for any cancelation made more than 25 hours but less than 49 hours before departure; a 20% handling fee will be charged per ticket for cancelations made within 25 hours of departure. A ticket refund will be provided within 20 working days using the same method as your initial payment. The refund amount is subject to the railway authority and payment date is subject to your bank or credit card provider.

Can I get a refund for the hotel promotion code if I cancel my ticket?

Hotel promotion codes are sold as a package and cannot be refunded once purchased.

How do I change my train ticket reservation?

Ctrip is unable to change tickets. You can cancel your reservation and make a new one online or go to any railway station within Mainland China with a valid ID (this should be the same as the one used for your booking) if tickets have already been issued.
Please note:

  1. Reservation changes should be made before your train departs.
  2. The tickets you wish to change to must be available and not sold out.
  3. Reservation changes for a different train can be made, but your departure and arrival destinations must remain the same.
  4. No handling fees will be charged for changing tickets. If the new ticket price is lower than the original ticket price, you will get a refund on the price difference. If the new ticket price is higher than the original ticket price, you will pay the price difference.
